Memorial Day 5K
Monday, May 27, 2013 at 9am
On the campus of the Veteran's Administration Illiana Healthcare System at 1900 East Main Street, Danville, IL

A flat, 5K course on the roads and paved trails of the wooded campus of the local VA Hospital.

Summer Fun Runs/Walks
Dates: Wednesdays at 6:15 pm - June 5th through August 21st.
Kickapoo State Recreation Area Cross Country Course
Meet at the Meadow Shelter near Clear Pond
Host: Missy Holst

Weekly 1 mile, 2 mile, and 3 mile run/walks. Entry is free with ribbons or medals to all finisher - and every night is a cookout night!

Lake Mingo Trail Run

Five Hours for Dogs & Cats - KRR Members Only
Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 9am
In memory of KRR members Steve Hargrave & John Deltuva
For the benefit of Champaign & Vermilion County Humane Societies
At Meadow Shelter in Kickapoo State Park

Officially a five hour running/walking event, start and stop anytime you'd like between 9am and 2pm.

Of course we'll have the usual Kennekuk party - firing up the grill at at 1:30 with hot dogs, brats, polish sausage & veggie dogs - and beer from Orange & Blue. Great prizes too!

The 23rd Annual Howl at the Moon 8 Hour Run/Walk

Kennekuk Cove County Park at 7am

The largest timed ultra in the United States, The Howl at the Moon is held at Kennekuk Cove County Park on a 3.29 mile loop with excellent support from Kennekuk's outstanding volunteers.  Do as little or as much as you can.  A perfect event for your first Ultra.  Post-race party with food, drink, prizes & music.

Camping is available on a first come first serve basis starting Thursday, August 8th

Wild Wild Wilderness Trail Run

Stay for the post-race party with food, drink, music and prizes.  Final Grand Slam event.  Grand Slam awards presented at the post-race party.


Sandcreek Trail Run (Not a KRR Event)
Saturday, 12 October 2013 at 10am
Sand Creek Conservation area, near Decatur, IL

A 4 or 7 mile event hosted by our central Illinois running buddies, The Decatur Running Club. For details, see the race website


Forest Glen Trail Run (Not a KRR Event)
Saturday, 19 October 2013 at 8am
The Forest Glen Preserve is a beautiful beech-maple and oak-hickory forested Nature Preserve. The race will coincide with peak fall foliage. The race is a fundraiser for the Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation and all registration fees go directly to the Foundation. The new 10.6 mile course wanders along streams and the Vermilion River. The course is easier than the previous year's course, although quite challenging; mostly single tract wooded running with steep up and downhills.

Backpack Trail - KRR Members Only
Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 9am or 10am at Forest Glen County Preserve
Start/Finish is at the Gannett Education Center, which is heated and has a full kitchen!

The most challenging course in the local area - and you get to choose your distance of either 4.5 or 11 miles. Party during and immediately after the run at the Gannett Education Center.


2014 Season


Grand Slam 2014

A special award will be given to all individuals who complete the following four events in 2014: Siberian Express, Mountain Goat, Lake Mingo Trail Run, and Wild Wild Wilderness. The awards will be presented at the Wild Wild Wilderness 2014.


Siberian Express Trail Run

The number one winter race in the Midwest. Enjoy 7.45 challenging miles of beauty and adventure (same course as Wild Wild Wilderness) then party afterwards Kennekuk-style at Sarge's Tap with food, drink, music, and prizes. Grand Slam Event #1 of the 2014 season.
